opening day presents

every year i get opening day presents for eamon and i. this year i will actually be at fenway for the game (and the rings!), so it's even more of a present.

yesterday i hit up olympia and bought a youkilis shirt, a lowell shirt, a new hat, and a jacket. i got the jacket in navy, but i am really wanting the red one, so i will see if they have it at another store so i can exchange. go sox!

brooke is still mia

no, jenn has not gone into labor yet.
believe me, she is way more impatient than the rest of us.

if she doesn't go into labor by next wednesday, they will induce her. just in time for carol to get on a plane for the womens final four games. she (carol) is less than thrilled at this.

national geographic pictures

my friend beth (who i met in savannah), sent me these.
incredible, no?

opening day in japan

eamon and i decided to wake up at the same time to watch dice-k throw the first pitch. unfortunately, direcTV decided to crap out on me (and everyone else), and dropped the transmission or something. way to go.

RJ says...

GO DRAKE!So do I - unless they meet UConn in the 2nd round!

Drake University men's basketball made the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1971. It happens to be the first year that one of my favorite people, Rodell Davis, joined the coaching staff. Rodell and I worked together at LCCC, and I'm so happy for him and his family (his youngest son is pictured above). Just got off the phone with him, and the excitement is contagious. Congrats!

happy birthday gramps

missyou.

march '08: baby watch

as most of you know, my sister is due any day now. we're all pretty excited, especially seeing this is the first baby in my family since, well, jenn and me.

while, i don't have until the 26th in the baby pool, but would be happy for a st. patrick's day baby. jenn is more than anxious, and says she has been feeling labor-y since friday. she says she feels like a hula hoop and the baby has no more room to grow. to quote jenn, " i want baby to come! then i can buy her a cute easter outfit and play with her this weekend."

notable dates the baby could be born on:

today: st. patrick's day, gramps's birthday
march 18: leary's birthday, sudie's birthday
march 21: good friday
march 22: greg's birthday
march 23: easter
march 29: jHo's birthday
march 30: morel's birthday
april 1: april fool's day
april 4: conor's birthday

so now that we're coming into the home stretch, i'm going to create my own emergency bag so i can be ready to head to worcester at a moment's notice. It will hold a change of clothes, toothbrush, camera/charger, cell phone charger... Anything else you can think of? iPod? book?

happy...evacuation day

Per wikipedia,

March 17 in Suffolk County, Massachusetts is Evacuation Day, an official holiday commemorating the evacuation of the city of Boston by British forces during the American Revolutionary War. Evacuation Day is also observed in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Somerville, Massachusetts. Schools and government offices are closed. If March 17 falls on a weekend, schools and government offices are closed on the following Monday in observance. Coincidentally, it is the same day as St. Patrick's Day.

As I work at a community college in the state of Massachusetts (and all state employees get the same holidays), I am supposed to get this day off as well. I'm working though, and will take Opening Day off instead. (Go Sox!)

happy st. patrick's day!

(niki and keelee '07 @fado in denver)

going to my future-in-laws for corned beef and cabbage. wishing eamon was not in greenland, it's just not the same without him. but we'll make up for it next year!

lack of phone numbers

i had to get a new phone (AGAIN), so if I haven't talked to you in the past few days, chances are, i don't know your number and have no way of getting in touch with you. just so you know.

aka., give me your phone numbers.

dancing with the red sox

INSIDE TRACK - Red Sox lord of the dance Jonathan Papelbon looks like he was trying out for a weekend gig at Club Cafe when he chose a black, see-through lace bodysuit to compete in Mike Lowell’s “Dancing with the Stars” benefit in Florida the other night!

Pap, who merengued with professional dancer Teresa Kasler, didn’t win the competition, but he did score the “Bringing Sexy Back” award!

Lugo called and he wants his shirt back,” yelled pitcher Javier Lopez, who judged the dance contest with teammates Jason Varitek, Josh Beckett, Tim Wakefield, Jacoby Ellsbury, Clay Buchholz and Sean Casey. (read more here.)

matthew is in town

my sister just called to say that matthew mcconaughey and jennifer garner are filming a movie outside her office. "the ghosts of girlfriends past" is being shot entirely in massachusetts.

in the vein of 'a christmas carol', the story centers on a bachelor who goes to his younger brother's wedding, where he is visited by the ghost of girlfriends past.

seeing as i LOVE them (they are both on my 'list') , i feel like i should head up to boston and stalk them/beg to be an extra. but alas, i am headed to savannah for a conference.

if anyone sees them around, let me know!
