assignment: fort meade, maryland

we finally heard.

after months of being asked on a daily basis "have you heard where you're going next?" "does eamon know his next assignment?" we got official notice that eamon has been placed at fort meade in maryland.

and we're going to take it.

no boston did not move to maryland overnight (at least, not that i know of), but we are really excited (and nervous) about the assignment. it's still on the eastcoast, and from a professional standpoint (for me), this was probably one of the best bases that we could have gotten. the assignment opens up a lot of opportunities, and there are so many more reasons to take it rather than get out.

fort meade is about 30 minutes from baltimore, 45 from dc. we're currently looking for places inside the beltway (college park for example) near the metro, so that we have easy access to dc, and eamon would go against traffic to fort meade.

that being said, i am not moving down until after the wedding. in fact, i'm not even going to start looking for jobs until after the wedding. at that point, eamon will be six months in and we'll have a better idea of where we are.

we're still learning things, and i'm lucky to have some friends in the area. one of my best friends grew up in arlington, so she (and her family) will be a huge help. but i'll keep you all posted.
