the red sox had their opening series against the yankees this past weekend. of course it had to be celebrated accordingly. friday night eamon, carol, jody, whitney and i went to buffalo wild wings to watch the game, and so that carol, who adores spicy food, could try some super hot chicken wings. jody (the other spicy food eater) was pretty impressed with the way she handled the 'blazin' wings. she's pretty hardcore.
the game started pretty shaky, but the sox pulled through 7-6. the guys used mariano as a tee. they wore their st. patrick's day jerseys (eamon did too on a whim!) to honor red auerbach, legendary celtics coach who passed away last year.
i skipped the game saturday (gasp!) to show carol around old town, but the sox didn't dissappoint. eamon kept me updated by sending me texts (even during church!), and we won 7-5.
on sunday we drove carol back to the airport and then went home for much needed rest. we play trivia on sunday nights with andrew, cara, dave and anne at coopersmith's. our usual name is 'eastcoastbias' (because all but one of us are from massachusetts), but for the night we changed our names to 'yankees suck!' and all wore red sox clothing. well, expect for cara because she's a stupid yankees fan (our team name for the night was almost 'cara sucks!')
the game started poorly with dice-k giving up some quick runs. but the boys had a historical third inning with back-to-back-to-back-to-back homers.
needless to say, we were pretty happy with the sweep. a-rod being the one to cause the final out only made it sweeter. i heart jonathon papelbon.
