FALL RIVER — Nicole DeCambra of Somerset has been appointed media specialist at Bristol Community College.

Ms. DeCambra, formerly a writer and promotions specialist at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyo., will work with the local and national media and provide support for implementing the college's overall communications plan. One of her primary responsibilities is to promote the college's new varsity sports program.

At LCCC, Ms. DeCambra managed the promotion of college events, including internal and external communications and marketing for the Golden Eagles Athletics program, which fielded athletic teams in horse showing, rodeo, men's basketball, women's volleyball, and men's and women's soccer.

A graduate of Somerset High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Connecticut.

During her four years at UConn, she represented the university as a NCAA Division I student-athlete on the varsity women's rowing team.

She won two consecutive gold medals at the Dad Vail Regatta Championship, the only two in the history of the program.
